Lynn's Story
"For we are God's masterpiece, He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10

Lynn was born in 1987 in Perkinston, Mississippi to John and Paula.  She was born with dislocated hips and very short legs. The femur bone in the upper part of both legs was broken and deformed. The pediatrician at birth told her parents both of her legs might be amputated. He sent them to a specialist in Alabama when Lynn was 2 weeks old. The doctor advised her parents to let Lynn grow and see what happens. She was a happy baby and walked with a limp at 14 months. The Lord had a plan.

"I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are thy works and my soul knows well." Psalms 139:14

By the time Lynn was 7, her legs were causing her much pain. She was only able to walk short distances so she began using a wheelchair at school. She was sent to a renowned orthopedist in Baltimore, Maryland in 1994. He performed many surgeries on her legs and left hip from 1995-1997. The surgeries and recoveries were extremely painful but the Lord blessed her. She gained 6 inches in height because they lengthened her femora bones. Later at the age of 10, she accepted Jesus as her Savior. She was able to walk into sixth grade with crutches. The Lord had a plan.

"Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him." Jeremiah 17:7

She was teased and shunned by a small group of peers in middle school because of her disability. Her parents, many times told her God made her special for a reason. He has a plan for you sweet girl. Lynn made special friends, many were GMA girls. She started the GMA program at Paramount Baptist Church in Perkinston, Mississippi  late because the family still lived in Baltimore. Her mom said, "she was impressed with the national officers and queens in coronation at National Camp." In 1996, she told her mom she wanted to be an officer some day. The Lord blessed Lynn beyond measure letting her hold many local, district, state and national offices in GMA including:
National Jr. Miss GMA 2000-01, National 2nd Vice President 2002-03, Mississippi State 1st Vice President 2003-04, National 1st Vice President 2003-04, Mississippi State President 2004-05 and National President 2004-05. She completed her sovereign queen step. Lynn said, "GMA's developed her love for Christ."  The Lord had a plan.

"It is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure." Philippians 2:13

She graduated as valedictorian of her class in 2005. The school built a special podium for her to give her speech. She received a standing ovation that night. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in May 2009 with a double degree in K-12 Education and Special Education. She left  June 2009 for a 2 month tour as a student missionary in Bandung, Indonesia. In April 2010, she was elected as self support missionary to Bandung, Indonesia. She spent 2 years learning the language and customs of the Indonesian people. While there, she taught English classes in a private school. Lynn's first apartment was small and not air conditioned. The first floor held a tiny kitchen, sitting room and bathroom. She had to climb a 10 ft. homemade ladder to her bedroom on the second floor. She loved to cook even though the apartment was small she would entertain up to 12 guests at a time. Her parents visited her in December 2010 and couldn't believe her living conditions and they begin to pray for a different apartment. The Lord provided her with a duplex with everything on the first floor before her parents returned home. They praised God for His provision and protection for their daughter. In August 2012, she moved from Bandung to Manado to work as a 65/35 missionary to reach the Indonesian people. The Lord had a plan.

"For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Many times Lynn wondered about the way God created her and in Indonesia, she realized the answer. The people wondered about her difference. They would walk right up to her and ask many questions. "What's wrong with you?"  "Why are you on crutches?"  "Why are you so short?" Lynn would answer their questions and they loved her. The Lord allowed Lynn to share the story of her life and His love for her and the people of Indonesia. "…be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." 1 Peter 3:15  She said, "the verses she had memorized in GMA had helped her." The people of Indonesia are short with black hair and black eyes, so is Lynn but with hazel eyes . The Lord had a plan.

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go, I will counsel you and watch over you." Psalms 32:8

In September 2012, she moved to Manado to open an English learning center and outreach ministry called "The Bridge".  A bridge by definition connects two points. Lynn hopes "The Bridge" will connect the students to Jesus. It opened on February 2013 and since then over 300 students have come to study there. Their  building is 3 1/2 stories high with English classes on the first floor which meet Monday-Friday from 3:00-7:00.  The Indosiean people believe if you don't ask for money, they think its worthless. Children's classes are $120 for 3 months which meet twice a week for an hour. It also contains a café where they offer painting and board games which help build relationships. Students that come begin to build a trusting relationship with Lynn and the other workers. This often leads to an open door to share the gospel.  They have two Bible study groups (high school and college/young adult group). Many of the college kids are hungry and have little money so Lynn cooks for them and they call her mom.  The Lord had a plan.

Lynn's favorite verses, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39

Yes Lynn, You are God's masterpiece created by Him to fulfill the plan He had for you.

"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ." 2 Corinthians 5:20
